About Marty Mohr

Republican Marty

Experience You Can Trust.
Service You Can Count On.

For Marty Mohr, service didn't start in a boardroom—it started in a firehouse. In 1990, while still a senior in high school, Marty joined the Bedford (MI) Volunteer Fire Department. With his parents' permission and a strict 9:30 PM "school night" curfew set by the Fire Chief, Marty began a journey of community service that has spanned his entire adult life.

That early commitment to public safety led to his first steps into local government. In 1992, Marty was elected to the Bedford Township, MI Park Board, where he served a four-year term dedicated to improving local recreational spaces. These early experiences ingrained a simple philosophy: if you want to see a community thrive, you have to be willing to do the work.

Professional Expertise in Large-Scale Management

Marty’s professional career has taken him across the United States as a Safety and Risk Manager for major construction companies. Specializing in large-scale civil construction projects, Marty has spent years overseeing complex budgets, managing multi-million dollar contracts, and ensuring the safety of thousands of workers on high-stakes jobsites.

Today, Marty serves as a Vice President and Risk Manager for CJ Drilling, where he has been for 14 years. He is not a career politician; he is a professional manager who understands how to identify liabilities and protect the bottom line. He brings a "private-sector eye" to public-sector spending.

The Example of Hard Work

Marty’s drive comes from the example set by his parents. His father, John, was a devoted fraternal insurance counselor who served 16 years in elected office on both the School Board and Park Board in Bedford, MI. His mother was a registered nurse throughout her career. Growing up in a household with 11 siblings, children, Marty saw every day what it meant to work hard, stay disciplined, and look out for others.

A Commitment to Taxpayers

Marty believes that leadership means leading by example. That is why he has pledged to refuse taxpayer-funded medical and dental benefits upon election to the County Board. He is running to bring his personal and professional experience to work for you—protecting your tax dollars and ensuring that District 8 has a strong, experienced voice in Woodstock.
